Sewing the Christmas Hexagon Quilt

Lizzy House Pearl Bracelets in white on white. GORGEOUS! :)
Hello all!
Let me tell you, that hexagon quilt goes together pretty fast when you put little triangles in between the hexies! I was a little hesitant to spend MORE time cutting when I could be sewing but I went ahead and took the plunge and cut out a ton of little white triangles last night. Totally worth it! If you put them together in the right way, it's all straight seams and smooth sailing! None of the folding and twisting of hexagon on hexagon!

So I cut out the triangles with the pointy end of my handy Hex N More. I like how this ruler allows you to blunt the triangle tips. It is essential to do so! Blunt tips make for easier placement when lining them up with your hexies! I used 4.5" hexagons and 2.5" (tall, not length of side) 60ยบ triangles and they fit together perfectly. I did not have to use pins on pieces this small.
They have party hats on!
Just sew one triangle to each hexagon...
TA DA!
and lock them together like so!

I like to press my seams open you you don't see any dark fabric behind the white triangles. You use this technique to make a whole rows of these puppies. Then the row is straight on the top and bottom, making it easy to assemble the rows into a throw or large quilt top!
I will play with putting hexies together without triangles another time for sure, I just liked the look and ease of this method for a seasonal quilt!

Thanks for reading!
Allyson
