I usually have more than one project happening at once so bear with me. Currently, I'm learning to sew together hexagons. (I hope to do this by machine) It's been very relaxing to cut them out using the Hex N More ruler. I love that you can cut hexies from a charm pack with very little waste. I'm starting my Christmas sewing early and am totally in love with the Winter's Lane collection from Moda.
I thought one charm pack would be enough for a little couch throw but it's really only enough for a baby blanket. I don't know what I was thinking. Glad I ordered two but wish I could have saved the other for a different project.
This is one charm pack. I can't decide if I want to butt the hexies up together like this or if I want to cut little white triangles to put in between.
I think it's kind of cute both ways and there are pros and cons to having triangles. It would be easier to machine sew the hexies together with triangles and it would make the quilt bigger but I kind of don't want to spend the time cutting them out. Stay tuned for the second installment: machine piecing hexagons.
